Frequently Asked Questions

How much does childcare cost?

Tuition rates are available on this website at www.kangarookourt.com or by obtaining a booklet at our center.

Do your fees work on a sliding scale?

Kangaroo Kourt Preschool is a private center. We accept private payments, Work First New Jersey, and New Jersey Cares for Kids. In 1977, Kangaroo Kourt also obtained twelve child care grants through the Social Service Block Grant. We currently service 14 children on our grant. These grants are available for those parents working or going to school full time. Please contact us for information.

Is there room for my child on an unscheduled day?

Although we try to meet every parent's need, there are times that we cannot accommodate an extra child on his or her unscheduled day. Please check with the Director.

Do you pro-rate tuition when my child is sick?

There is no refund/adjustment in tuition due to vacation, sick days, holidays, inclement weather, or any other personal reasons. Each family (who has been enrolled for a minimum of 3 months) is entitled to a one week vacation, without being financially responsible. Clients who are enrolled during the summer are also not responsible for tuition during the week that Kangaroo Kourt Preschool and Child Care Center is closed.

Do I have to tell you a schedule that my child will be attending, including drop off and pick up times?

Because we are regulated by how many children we have with each staff member, it is imperative that a parent notifies us at the time of enrollment, the times that he or she will be attending.

Do you provide lunch for my child?

"Full-day" children are required to bring a lunch, including a drink. Frozen juice boxes make excellent ice packs for lunches. As we try to encourage good nutrition, please do not pack candy or excessive treats. Please have lunch bags or boxes clearly labeled. A refrigerator and microwave are available. Campbell's soup (and the like) should not be sent in cans. Please send them in tupperware for easier heating.

Does my child have to take a nap?

The Division of Family Development requires that all children attending the Center for four or more consecutive hours rest for at least 30 minutes during this period. An alternate "quiet time" activity will be provided for children who have rested or slept for 30 minutes and do not appear to need additional rest or sleep.
