Summer Program 2008

Our Summer Program is ready! We will have wet times, stories, crafts, special visits, and lots of fun in the sun. Our topics are as follows:

July 7 Air Travel
July 14 Animals

July 28 Sea Life
Aug. 4 Space
Aug. 11 Dinosaurs
Aug. 18 Make and Bake

Our summer program will begin on Monday, June 30th. We have an exciting PATRIOTIC program on July 3rd . We will be having YOSI come to entertain the children ( www.yosimusic.com ). Yosi's shows are whimsical, imaginative and enthusiastic for his young audiences! Also on July 3rd , we will be having a picnic with all of the children contributing to our picnic. We will be closed on July 4th for Independence Day.

The topic for the week of July 7th is Air Travel. On July 7th we will have an educational presentation by Mad Science (www.madscience.org/locations/centralnj) for the children who are in grades K-5 about ROCKETS. The children will discover the dynamics of rocket flight. They will touch and feel scale rockets while learning how they fly. They will experience a NASA style launch of a model rocket that will soar more than 200ft!

All About Animals is the topic during the week of July 14th . On July 18th we will have a special program for our preschool children. Feathers, fins, fur and more! The children will explore the animal kingdom and learn about the habitats, anatomy and life cycles of their favorite creatures. They will make their very own animal print to take home.

During the week of July 21st, we will learn about BUGS . There will be a special show on July 21st for the children in grades K-5 . This program says it all! Children will be introduced to the wonderful world of insects. They will learn about their flying abilities, unique eyesight and the way they defend themselves against predators. They will discover that although insects are seen as pests by many people, they play an essential role in our ecosystem.

On July 23rd, we will also have our favorite old time photography studio, PHOTO MAGIC, photograph each and every child in VINTAGE clothing. There is no obligation on your part, but we are sure you will be pleased with the results. The shooting time starts at 9am.

The week of July 28th, SEA LIFE will be our topic. We will have a special show on July 30th for our preschool children. The c hildren will be introduced to oceanography. They will discover what sea water is made of and its unique properties. They will identify creatures by examining our real specimens that inhabit the oceans and learn about some of the characteristics that give them the ability to live under water. They will build a mini ocean to take home.

Space, The Final Frontier will be our subject for the week of August 4th. The grades K-5 children will voyage into space, opening u[ their inquiring minds on a quest to discover Space! Their mission will take place on August 7th . Their goal: to gain more knowledge of our universe.

During the week of August 11th, DINOSAURS will be the topic. On August 14th, the preschool children will become assistant paleontologists with a mini dinosaur dig that will engage their minds and skills. They will then make their own dinosaur tooth to take with them.

The week of August 18 th we will MAKE AND BAKE . The children will be making all sorts of EDIBLE concoctions! We love doing PROJECTS which include EATING.

On August 19th, Kangaroo Kourt presents: Bruce Bray Magician “Laughter is Magic”(www.brucebraymagic.com). Bruce's unique blend of kids' comedy, magic and audience participation will make this program one they will not forget. The children will be belly laughing the entire show.  Bruce has a unique ability to connect with the kids and think on their level. 

Everyday we will have a wet activity! Please make certain that your child has sunscreen, a bathing suit and a towel. Children must have both a towel and a suit to participate in the “wet” times! Sunscreen must be provided from home and clearly labeled.

August 25 through September 1, Kangaroo Kourt will be closed. Please save your summer “vacation week” to use during this time (see Registration/Tuition Policy in Parent Handbook). During this time we will prepare for the school year and the staff will be taking a well-deserved vacation. Kangaroo Kourt will reopen on Tuesday September 2, to begin its 2008-2009 school year (our 19 th year in operation!)
